Cell phone jammers are designed to interfere with the radio frequencies used by cell phones, effectively preventing calls from being made or received. There are two main types of cell phone jammers. The first is a compact device that blocks the signal between a cell phone tower and a single cell phone. These devices typically target frequencies between 800MHz and 1900MHz and are effective at blocking signals within a radius of about 30 feet. As a result, cell phones within this range will not show any signal.

In situations where unwanted cell phone use needs to be addressed, one can politely ask the individual not to use their cell phone, or consider purchasing a cell phone jammer to create an environment free of cell phone interference.

Unfortunately, the demand for cell phone jammers is increasing, especially among certain groups, such as prison guards, who believe these devices can help solve their problem. Some prison guards have even petitioned the FCC for rulemaking and supported a bill asking the FCC to allow cell phone jammers in prisons.

In Japan, jammer can be installed in public places such as theaters and concert halls, but only with a government-issued permit. Recently, France’s industry minister approved designated areas in cinemas, concert halls and theaters where jammers can be used, as long as emergency calls can still be made.

A Tokyo-based company called Medic Inc sold thousands of Wave Wall GSM jammers before the government introduced regulations to control their use in venues hosting live performances.

A GPS jammer, on the other hand, is a small device that can be connected to a vehicle’s cigarette lighter port. It emits radio signals that interfere with or overwhelm weaker GPS signals, effectively disrupting GPS tracking or navigation systems.
